In this section, you will find information on safety initiatives at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. It contains information about how you, our patient, can be our partner in safety.
We embarked on this effort in 2010, and invite you to join us as we continue to create a culture of high reliability.
We looked to other industries, such as nuclear power, airline and naval aviation, to learn about how they improved reliability and safety. We have applied these initiatives at St. Vincent’s. All of our physicians and staff have received training in behaviors and practices that result in decreasing errors and improving safety. We also need you to help.
We encourage you to speak up if something does not seem quite right. We want to hear from you if there is something you don’t understand, or if you have a question about a medication. Feel free to ask any of your healthcare providers about proper hand washing or other ways to reduce your risk of infection.
Your safety is our number one priority. Learn more about safety from CDC.gov and to compare hospital safety scores go to Hospital Compare.
